Transitioning Lawyers Committee
Information, guidance, and resources to bar members who are transitioning into or out of a law practice or who are contemplating the closure or sale of a law practice.

Recognizing longer career spans in Hawaii and reviewing trends from other Bar Associations, the TLC consulted with the Office of Disciplinary Counsel and the Attorneys Assistance Office to shape a resource hub. The result is a dedicated webpage featuring articles from Hawaii and out-of-state authors to support members through these professional transitions.
These articles provide general background information and are not a substitute for legal advice. For guidance on specific situations, members should consult legal counsel. When reviewing content from out-of-state contributors, members should also refer to the Rules of the Supreme Court of Hawaii, the Hawaii Rules of Professional Conduct, advisories from the Office of Disciplinary Counsel, and applicable Hawaii statutes, rules, and case law. Publication does not imply HSBA approval or endorsement, and HSBA is not responsible for any damages, claims, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses that may result from the use of these materials.
