Memorializing the Careers of the HSBA's 3-Digit Members

Pioneers whose stories reflect Hawaii’s legal and cultural history.

In 2015, the Hawaii State Bar Association with the technical production assistance of ThinkTech Hawaii, pursued an ambitious schedule of videotaping the career stories of some of its senior members.

It was called the "3-D Series" because every lawyer has a Bar Number, and the oldest among the living lawyers admitted from Territorial days through 1970 have numbers of less than 1,000 – hence three digits. Some of the leading lights and most respected members of the Bar are among the 3-D attorneys, so some of the stories memorialized are historical, nostalgic, funny and a significant piece of Hawaiiana.
