
SECTION purpose
Purposes of the Business Law Section
- To develop and encourage the practice of the highest standards of professional competence and ethical conduct by attorneys in the State of Hawaii practicing business and commercial law in the State;
- To aid and assist the Section’s members in the performance of their legal duties;
- To provide a forum for the exchange of professional experiences and ideas through discussion, seminars, study, and publication;
- To consider all matters of legal interest relating to business and commerce;
- To engage in educational and related activities;
- To sponsor, encourage, and promote scholarship in the business and commercial law fields;
- To collect, analyze, and disseminate information as to legislation, governmental agency and judicial decisions concerning business and commerce;
- To initiate, sponsor, and promote within the Hawaii State Bar Association legislation and uniform laws and regulations, and standards of conduct and competence, when necessary and appropriate or in the public interest;
- To promote good fellowship among the members of the Section;
- To serve as a spokesperson for the Hawaii State Bar Association, subject to appropriate authorization;
- To take such action necessary and proper to accomplish the purposes of the Section as expressed in these Bylaws and in the Articles and Bylaws of the Hawaii State Bar Association.
- To create and oversee standing committee on various subject matter areas deemed appropriate.
