Application for CLE Approval: Attorney

Active attorneys may apply for CLE credit for a course not pre-approved by a provider or for qualifying published legal work. Applications must include all required documentation and be submitted within 60 days of course completion or publication.

Procedure for Individual Course or Activity Approval

Active members seeking approval for a course or activity for which the provider has not already obtained approval may submit an attorney application for CLE approval.

The following may be mailed, emailed or faxed to the MCLE Administrator:

  • Completed attorney application
  • Certificate of attendance
  • Program materials, agenda and/or program outline
  • Attorney application fee pursuant to the CLE Fee Schedule

Attorney applications must be received no later than 60 days after the completion of the course for which the attorney is seeking approval.

Procedure for Legal Publication Approval

RSCH Rule 22(e)(4): The requirement of this Rule may be met, subject to prior approval as set forth in sections (f) and (g) of this Rule, by…(4) writing scholarly legal articles that comply with Regulations of the Continuing Legal Education Regulations of the Hawaii State Board of Continuing Legal Education and are published in a bar journal, law review, book, bar association or similarly recognized journal, or other legal publication may qualify for 2 credit hours per 1,500 published words per year.

The following may be mailed, emailed or faxed to the MCLE Administrator:

  • Completed Certificate of Publication form
  • A copy of the published article
