A majority of households contain one or more nonhuman animal as a household member. For some people, expressly providing for the care and transition of their ‘pet’ family member in an estate planning context is important. Core principles of pet inclusion in the general estate planning documents, as well as more specific design of a pet trust, will be presented.
Speaker Bio:
Tim Midura has practiced estate & trust planning and administration for over 30 years and is also the executive director of a national animal law think-and-do tank. Tim has authored a numerous continuing legal education materials on estate planning and has presented at numerous professional associations and conferences. More specific to this presentation, Tim is the author of various practical estate planning practice materials for integrating animal interests into estate planning.
