Topic Description:
Instructors will primarily discuss relevant considerations under the Hawaii Rules of Professional Conduct (HRPC) for elder law practice. Instructors will also provide background on general disciplinary procedures and the organization of the ODC.
Raymond Kong
Mr. Kong recently took over as Chief Disciplinary Counsel to the Hawaiʻi Supreme Court (February 2025); and RSCH Rule 2.20 Trustee Administrator (deceased, disbarred, disappeared or disabled attorneys). Previously, he was the General Counsel at Bishop Museum and the Legal Director for Lawyers for Equal Justice, a part of Hawaii Appleseed.
Mr. Kong's private practice focused on construction and business litigation. He graduated from UC Hastings College of the Law (now known as UC Law San Francisco) in 2002. He is admitted to practice law in Hawaiʻi and California (inactive).
Nicole Lam
Ms. Lam is Deputy Disciplinary Counsel at the Office of Disciplinary Counsel (“ODC”). Her responsibilities include investigating and prosecuting ethical violations of the Hawaii Rules of Professional Conduct, providing informal verbal opinions, and coordinating and presenting legal education seminars.
Previously, Ms. Lam worked at Dentons US LLP, where she focused her practice on commercial litigation and real estate transactions. She graduated, cum laude, from the William S. Richardson School of Law and received her B.A., cum laude, from Georgetown University. Prior to law school, Ms. Lam worked on Capitol Hill for U.S. Senator Mazie Hirono and the U.S. Senate Democratic Leadership.
