Do's and Don'ts When Using E-Signatures

(RECORDED)

This program is a recording of the Live Webcast Seminar held on April 4, 2023.

If you attended the live webcast and received credit, then you cannot claim credit for watching this recorded program.

Summary:
Have you ever used digital signatures?  They are becoming more and more prevalent these days, accelerated by the pandemic, and are used in many transactions, such as real estate and loan transactions, to name a few.  Clients and other parties love to use them for convenience, and lawyers often arrange for the digital signatures using DocuSign or other competing platform.  But how many of us know the legal underpinnings of valid and enforceable digital signature?  If you are rendering an opinion on the validity of a digitally-signed document, then of course you need to know this, but even if you just participate in the use of digital signatures, you may have a duty to advise your client if there is a problem.

In this webinar, we will discuss the laws that relate the digital signatures, the platforms that offer digital signature services, their compliance with the laws, and legal challenges that have been made to the validity of digital signatures.  Hopefully, at a minimum you will come away with greater peace of mind about the use of digital signatures.
