Speakers:

Gerald S. (Jerry) Clay, Partner at Clay Chapman Iwamura Pulice & Nervell 
Gerald S. (Jerry) Clay is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers for the categories of Construction Law and Alternate Dispute Resolution. A founding partner in the law firm of Clay Chapman Iwamura Pulice & Nervell, his professional focus is on the continuing needs of developers, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, material suppliers and sureties. A 20 year member of the General Contractors Association of Hawai’i, he is a past national director of the American Arbitration Association. Mr. Clay has taught construction law at the University of Hawaii Law School. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Law.

Scott I. Batterman is a partner at Clay Chapman Iwamura Pulice & Nervell where he has been a construction lawyer for over 30 years. His practice focuses on all aspects of construction law, including review and negotiations of contracts, bid protests, licensing, insurance issues, and negotiating, mediating, arbitrating, and litigating construction disputes, and has represented contractors, owners, architects, , and others in numerous construction cases. He is one of The Best Lawyers in America® in Construction Law. He is an associate member of the General Contractors Association of Hawaii, where he teaches courses on contract documentation for the Supervisory Training Program and the Project Manager Development Program, and a faculty lecturer at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, College of Engineering, where he teaches the Construction Law course. 
 
Carina Ohara, Senior Counsel at Pacific Current
Carina Ohara is Senior Counsel at Pacific Current, an unregulated subsidiary of HEI, an infrastructure development company whose mission is to invest, own and operate projects that further the sustainability goals of Hawaii. Carina's career as a construction attorney spans 30 years, starting as a construction litigator in private practice in Honolulu, then as in house attorney at Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, Dillingham, Bechtel, and Hawaiian Electric. Carina has worked on various types of construction projects globally, from residential projects in Hawaii to a $29 Billion industrial infrastructure project in Western Australia for Chevron. She is also the editor of construction law books published by the American Bar Association, "Fundamentals of Construction Law" and "Forms and Substance: Specialized Agreements for the Construction Project," and has written numerous articles on all aspects of laws concerning engineering and construction
