Summary:
The seminar is intended to briefly introduce the entertainment business industry as a whole as well as copyright license practice, and then through the comparison between Japan and US in terms of a typical approach to an international contract, to propose some thoughts about what cultural differences tend to be involved and how to overcome efficiently such differences for all beyond-border transaction.

Junichiro Shibata is an attorney admitted in the State of California and also to the patent bar of Japan with limited admission to the courts of Japan for specified intellectual property matters, and a candidate doctor of juridical science (S.J.D.) in the matter of entertainment law and cross-border dispute resolution. He has expertise on entertainment law and intellectual property, and general corporate & commercial legal counseling accumulated through more than 10-year experience of in-house roles with Hollywood major studios in Japan as well as 4-year experience in private practice for a variety of international IP matters, with emphasis on strategic counseling and advocate of the Japanese entertainment practice in line with the Hollywood entertainment practice.
