HSBA Board Action
The HSBA Board took the following actions at its meeting in August:
Adopted the recommendation of the joint Executive-Finance Committee to approve the Goal Group project requests for 2027 as recommended by the joint Executive-Finance Committee pending approval of the overall operating budget;
Adopted the recommendation of the joint Executive-Finance Committee to approve the $20 per district capita for neighbor island members for 2027;
Adopted the recommendation of the HSBA Nominating Committee to reappoint the following individuals to the HSB-CLE (aka MCLE) Board for 3-year terms to begin on 10/02/2026: David Fitzpatrick; Marie Gavigan; and Titiimaea Ta’ase;
Adopted the recommendation of the Executive Committee to budget up to $250 for a gift for the Dai-Ichi Tokyo Bar Association this October.
Volunteer Attorneys Needed in September – Honolulu Access to Justice Room & Court Self-Help Centers
The Legal Aid Society of Hawaiʻi is seeking volunteer attorneys to assist the Honolulu Access to Justice Room and Self-Help Centers in Maui, Hilo, Kona, and Kaua'i during the month of September. Volunteers provide limited legal information and assistance to self-represented individuals by phone or in person, depending on the location. Online training is provided, and CLE credit is available. Detailed instructions and materials will be sent upon signup.
