Lawsuits are not always about dollars.  As senior counsel, we have seen a lot.  Once we practice law for a while, we see that some lawsuits are about hurt feelings, long-term family disputes, and even unfounded suspicions that lead people to hire lawyers.  Empathy and taking the time to understand the emotions on both sides can lead to creativity and fashioning remedies that satisfy everyone.

Lawyer Referral & Information Service (LRIS)
Your Gateway to Qualified Clients

Supporting Hawaii’s legal community means connecting skilled attorneys with the people who genuinely need them. The Lawyer Referral & Information Service (LRIS) Hawaii Program does exactly that — delivering a steady stream of pre screened potential clients while elevating access to justice across the islands.

🌺 Why Hawaii Attorneys Choose LRIS

  • Qualified Referrals — Every caller is screened by  LRIS staff, ensuring you receive clients who match your practice areas and meet your criteria.
  • Consistent Case Flow — LRIS operates year round, providing a reliable source of new clients without the cost of advertising.
  • Professional Credibility — Being part of a respected statewide referral program enhances your visibility and reinforces your reputation for service.
  • Access to Underserved Communities — LRIS helps bridge the justice gap, connecting attorneys with individuals who may not otherwise find legal help.
  • Flexible Participation — Choose your practice areas, set your availability, and accept only the referrals that fit your caseload.

⚖️ How the Program Works

  1. Client Intake — LRIS staff gather essential information and determine the caller’s legal needs.
  2. Targeted Referral — The system matches the client with an attorney in the appropriate practice area.
  3. Email sent to attorney and to expect a call for potential client.

Join now for just $325 and receive referrals through the end of the LRIS fiscal year June 30, 2027 using this link.
Or to speak with the Administrator call 808-792-7350.

Heading

Hawai‘i Online Pro Bono (HOP) has become a primary, alternative way for people to request assistance with their legal issues. Attorneys can work from home to answer questions. HOP asks for your assistance answering 1 or 2 (or more!) questions on its website. Individuals have questions posted including but not limited to family law, estate planning, landlord-tenant, small claims, and bankruptcy. A few minutes of your time can make a world of difference to Hawai‘i residents in need.

In response to the Maui Fires, a new topic was added to answer basic Maui Disaster Relief questions, in the areas of Private Landlord/ Tenant, Family Law, Collections/Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, and Estate Planning.

A new branch of the existing Hawai‘i Online Pro Bono is specifically for federal legal matters including immigration and veterans issues has launched here.

Please reach out to HOP if you have any questions on how to set up a volunteer attorney account at hopadmin@vlsh.org.
