Summary:
Estate, Probate and Trust attorneys practice in a specialized field with an increasing exposure to legal malpractice claims. This seminar will discuss the reasons behind the increase in claims against EPT lawyers. Further, we will discuss common errors that EPT attorneys make as well as the expansion of the pool of potential claimants. Finally, we will provide risk management tips in order to prevent or mitigate legal malpractice lawsuits.

Deborah Bjes,
Swiss Re Corporate Solutions

Deborah Bjes is the Head of Small and Mid-sized Lawyers for the Lawyer's Professional Liability program with Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. 
She is a licensed attorney and former partner at a mid-sized insurance defense Chicago law firm. Deborah has also served as a customer service specialist and has facilitated seminars on communication skills. Deborah is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she received her J.D. cum laude.



Ellen McCarthy,
Swiss Re Corporate Solutions
Ellen McCarthy is the Client Operations and Risk Management Leader for the Lawyer's Professional Liability Program with Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. Prior to her current role, Ellen served as a claims expert adjudicating complex legal malpractice and insurance agent E&O claims across the US, and as an underwriter for the LPL program. Ellen has also served as a judicial law clerk and claims team leader.
Ellen is a licensed Maryland attorney and former associate at an insurance defense firm in suburban Washington, DC. Ellen is a graduate of McDaniel College and University of Baltimore School of Law.
