This seminar will provide you with insight in new legislation passed during the State of Hawaii’s 2018 Legislative Session which impacts real property and owners, including Affordable Housing, Medical Cannabis, Automatic Restraining Orders, Cesspools, Wastewater, Environmental Protection, Environmental Courts, Hawaii Community Development Authority, Hawaii Public Housing Authority, HARPTA Withholding Tax, Important Agricultural Land Tax Credit, Service Animals, State Bonds, Landlord-Tenant Code, Condominiums, Marine Events, Address Confidentiality, Confidential Personal Information, Found Electronic Devices, Liquor Licenses, Transient Accommodations Tax, Public Lands, Consumer Protection, Consumer Credit Reporting Agencies, Money Transmitters, Tax on Intangible Property, Emergency Rules by Agencies, Energy and Health.

This program is designed for attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, brokers, sales persons, managers, and others dealing with real estate and financial services in Hawaii.

Andrea K. Ushijima,
Cades Schutte
Andrea K. Ushijima is an associate with the law firm of Cades Schutte LLP, where she practices in the areas of real estate, banking, consumer finance laws, and commercial finance.  She joined the firm in 2013.  Ms. Ushijima received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington, her M.B.A. from the Shidler College of Business, University of Hawaii, and her law degree from the William S. Richardson School of Law, University of Hawaii, where she served as the Executive Editor for Publications and Research for the University of Hawaii Law Review.

Michelle S. Loudermilk,
Cades Schutte
Michelle S. Loudermilk is a partner with the law firm of Cades Schutte LLP, where she practices in the areas of real estate transactions and covers a wide range of areas including extensive retail, industrial, and office leasing, acquisitions and dispositions of real estate, commercial loan management and workouts for institutional lenders, and commercial loan transactions.  Michele’s career spans more than 25 years, 12 of which were as in-house counsel to one of Hawaii’s largest real estate companies.  Michele is a 1990 graduate of the William S. Richardson School of Law, University of Hawaii.

Kimi Ide-Foster,
Chun Kerr
Kimi Ide-Foster is an associate with the law firm of Chun Kerr LLP, where she practices in the areas of real estate, commercial finance and general business transactions.  Ms. Ide-Foster received her Bachelor’s degree from Pitzer College, and her law degree from the William S. Richardson School of Law, University of Hawaii, where she served as staff editor for the Asian-Pacific Law & Policy Journal.
