The hiring process to include: what is a protected class in Hawaii, permissible and impermissible interview questions, what to do when the applicant “opens the door,” how to handle the restrictions on asking about salary history, the importance of job postings and job descriptions, and the importance of job applications with disclaimer language.
Making an employment offer to include: the written offer, employee or independent contractor, exempt or non-exempt employee, how are they paid (salary vs. hourly), and common mistakes in paying non-exempt employees.
