Attorney Martin Hsia will be highlighting interesting recent developments in intellectual property law for IP attorneys and non-IP attorneys alike. Intellectual property regulations were affected by executive orders, prohibition of scandalous trademarks may be unconstitutional, exporting only one component of a patented invention is not infringement, and using Administrative Procedures Act standards to challenge patent invalidations by the Patent Trial and Appeal Board are just a few of the things that will be covered.

Martin is a registered patent attorney, one of the few patent attorneys in Hawai`i. He practices patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, right of publicity, computer, licensing, Internet and entertainment law at Cades Schutte. Martin is Chair of the Intellectual Property Practice Group and the Technology and Electronic Commerce Practice Group.
Martin has been listed in Best Lawyers in America for 25 years, and is also listed in Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers and Who’s Who in American Law. He has given addresses on intellectual property matters to groups as diverse as the American Bar Association Business Law Section, United States Trademark Association, the Chamber of Commerce of Hawai`i, the Rotary Club, Innovation workshops sponsored by US Department of Energy, the National Association of Paralegals, a third grade class studying inventions, as well as major colleges and universities, and other organizations.
