Summary: Today, the prevalence of social media presents unique challenges in the fight against bullying and harassment in our schools. Recent news reports reveal several shortcomings in our state’s fight against sex trafficking, another growing problem affecting children in our state. Vivian Nani Hee, Special Agent in Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force of the State Department of Attorney General, and Morgan Early, attorney with Alston Hunt Floyd and Ing, join us to discuss legal strategies and prevention campaigns against child exploitation, bullying, sex trafficking, sexting, online enticement and more. Come learn about emerging efforts across the state and nation that show how our community can help combat these problems facing our keiki.
Meet the Speaker:
Morgan Early is an associate with Alston Hunt Floyd & Ing, practicing with its health law group. Before law school, Morgan was the director of Parker Anderson Learning Center in Century City, CA, which offered after school enrichment and tutoring to elementary school children. For three years she was the teacher-trainer for Kaplan Test Preparation for the Greater Los Angeles area. Morgan also served on the Board of Directors for Equal Roots, a Los Angeles grassroots organization advocating for social justice and LGBT issues in Los Angeles, where she assisted with projects addressing the bullying of LGBT youth and promoting education about cyberbullying. In Hawai`i, Morgan is involved in a variety of community service programs, including her work on the Committee for the HSBA Young Lawyer Division's Junior Judges Program, and the Development Committee for the Waikiki Community Center.
