Legal Ethics, Professionalism & Substance Abuse (RECORDED)

In the practice of law, substance abuse and depression have become the silent plagues that destroy cases, relationships, careers and lives. Join us for this CLE presented by Liam Deeley, Director of the Hawaii Supreme Court Attorneys and Judges Assistance Program (AAP). He will be joined by Dr. McKenna, Medical Director of the McKenna Recovery Center, a private outpatient addiction treatment center. 

This CLE course will educate the bar on the most current findings on the prevalence of substance abuse and mental health concerns among attorneys in a study published by the ABA and Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. This course will also go over how to recognize the signs of addiction before it progresses into a real problem. Finally, this course will offer practical strategies and tools that can be used to prevent or treat substance abuse. Topics to be covered:

2. Common Signs of Addiction
3. Attorney Reporting and Self-Reporting Duties
4. Prevention Tools
5. Treatment and Assistance Options
