Representative Della Au Belatti

Representative Della Au Belatti is a graduate of Princeton University and the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawai‘i, with a certificate from the Environmental Law Program.  She is a practicing attorney with the Law Office of Eric A. Seitz and is currently serving her seventh term as the Representative of State House District 24 (Makiki, Tantalus, Papakolea, McCully, Pawa?a, and Manoa).  Representative Belatti is a former high school social studies teacher and has served as a State Campaign Spending Commissioner.

Representative Belatti served as the chair of the House Committee on Health from 2013 to 2017 and also served as co-convener of the Women's Legislative Caucus from 2013-2018.  She is currently the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives and also serves as the House-appointed Commissioner to the Access to Justice Commission. In her role as a Commissioner on the Hawai‘i Access to Justice Commission, Representative Belatti has been a champion for promoting legislation that improves and ensures access to justice and provides funding for indigent legal services.

Senator Joy San Buenaventura
Joy San Buenaventura is a State Senator of State Senate District 2. In the 2019-2020 legislative session, Joy San Buenaventura served as a House Majority Whip, Chair of the House Committee on Human Services and Homelessness and Vice-chair of the House Judiciary committee (the latter position she held since 2014).

In her first term, she was honored by the League of Women Voters due to her efforts to increase voter participation and to make the elections officer accountable for election day errors. Prior to being elected, she was an attorney in solo practice for over 30 years and had won 3 out of 3 applications for writ of certiorari in the Hawaii Supreme Court. She was one of the attorneys who argued a divorce case at the initial neighbor island Courts in the Community program that was held in Hilo; and 2 days later argued in front of the same Hawaii Supreme Court, a criminal felony case for which she was court-appointed solely for the appeal.  Both she and co-presenter Della Au Bellati were involved in their respective capacities in the introduction, hearing and amending of a number of the major bills that passed in the 2020 session.
