Speakers:

Na Lan,

Born and raised in China, she is fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and English.

Ms. Lan arrived in Hawaii as an international student in 2004. Inspired by a professor’s passion for law, she became fascinated by various trust and estate cases discussed in one of her classes. “I saw how successful individuals made mistakes and how lawyers were able to help to resolve those issues and prevent future disputes.”

She earned her law degree from the University of Hawaii’s William S. Richardson School of Law, where she graduated cum laude. She was the Managing Editor of the Asia Pacific Law & Policy Journal, and also served as an intern for Judge Craig Nakamura of the Hawaii Intermediate Court of Appeals. For three years, she was a legal research assistant on Chinese labor and employment law for Professor Ronald C. Brown. She received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for the highest grades in Intellectual Property, Second Year Seminar, and Real Property II. She was also an Advocate for Public Interest Law Grantee while serving as a law clerk in the Hawaii Immigrants Justice Center, now merged as part of Legal Aid Society of Hawaii.

Prior to joining Damon Key, Ms. Lan provided legal services through her Honolulu-based law office, The Law Office of Na Lan, LLLC, which focused on business, employment and family-based immigration law. She also practiced condominium and business law as an associate at a boutique law firm in Honolulu.
